FREE EDUCATION
The Art of Living is committed to making quality education accessible to the underprivileged, free of cost, providing a joyful and inspiring learning environment to children from urban, rural and tribal areas. A range of Tribal Schools, Rural Schools, Sri Sri Seva Mandirs (for children from slum, or urban low-income, areas), offering value based education, have been set up. There are 86 schools across the country educating 6931 young minds.
An ancient Chinese proverb says “if you are planning for a year, sow rice,If you are planning for a decade, plant trees. If you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.”
PRISON PROGRAMME The Prison Programme is conducted in most Indian Prisons. Over 1,20,000 prisoners in India have participated in the programme. The Prison Programme enables prisoners to release stress and negative feelings through simple breathing techniques & yoga. This works on the physical, mental and emotional states of the prisoners, which gives them a calm and clear state of mind. It also reduces anxiety and aggression. Prisoners are given the opportunity to partake in vocational training, which reinstates their self-esteem and further aids in their rehabilitation.
RURAL DEVELOPMENT
The Art Of Living has done considerable work in areas of rural development and poverty eradication through the 5H programme. The programme works to establish Human Values, Health, Hygiene, Homes and Harmony in Diversity amongst the villagers. The programme has reached out to 34422 villages in 25 states across India benefiting 56,88,006 people.
